Losergeek.org.CO, Jakarta – For the first time after the Covid-19 pandemic, the representatives of three generations of Indonesian nationals and the Indonesian diaspora in Austria gathered in the Indonesian Embassy in Vienna to celebrate the 78th Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2023.
The flag ceremony was led by the Indonesian Ambassador for Austria, Damos Dumoli Agusman. Damos said this event is also an opportunity for an inter-generational gathering of Indonesian in Austria.
A series of sports events was conducted ahead of the Independence Day commemoration from July 26 to August 11, 2023. The events were an online chess competition, followed by a football championship on August 6, e-Sport FIFA 2023 on PlayStation 4, badminton, and mixed table tennis championship on August 13, 2023.
On August 26, 2023, the embassy will hold a festival to mark the height of the Independence Day series of celebrations. The festival will be attended by all Indonesian nationals and diaspora in Austria, the embassy’s partners, limited diplomatic circles, and Friend of Indonesia in Austria and Slovenia.
The embassy also inaugurated the new Consular Service Locket Room to upgrade the quality of consular service in the embassy. “Those who need consular service in the Indonesian Embassy could go to this specific room to enjoy the comfortable and easier consular service they need,” said Damos.
After the series of events, Ambassador Damos did a ceremonial tumpeng cutting, given to the oldest Indonesian national living in Austria, Petrus Canisius Prijapratama (89). The Indonesians gathered at the event and also did a jamming session with the Zugabe keroncong music group.
